Why PNG Files Are So Big
PNG is a lossless format. It saves every pixel exactly, which is great for logos, screenshots, stickers and text, but it means the file cannot be shrunk by lowering quality the way a JPG can. The main way to reduce the size of a PNG is to lower its width and height. The tool does this in small steps and stops as soon as the file fits your limit, so the picture stays as big as possible.
Tip: if your PNG is a normal photo without transparency, choose JPG in Save as. A photo saved as JPG is often 5 to 10 times smaller than the same photo as PNG.

Tips to Compress PNG Without Losing Quality
- Crop empty transparent space around the logo or sticker first.
- For a website, 1200 to 1600 pixels wide is enough for most pictures.
