How to Compress a JPEG
- Choose a size, for example 100 KB, or type your own.
- Add your JPG or JPEG photos. PNG and WEBP photos are also accepted and saved as JPG.
- The compressor finds the best quality under your limit.
- Download each photo or press Download all.
JPG and JPEG: Is There Any Difference?
No. JPG and JPEG are the same format. Older Windows versions allowed only three letters in a file extension, so .jpeg became .jpg. Any website that accepts JPG also accepts JPEG, and this compressor works with both.
How JPEG Compression Works
A JPEG saves a photo with a quality level. Phone cameras use very high quality, which makes files large. Lowering the quality from about 95% to 70% can make a photo several times smaller while most people cannot see any change. The tool tests many quality levels, keeps the one closest to your limit, and only reduces the pixel size if the quality alone is not enough.

Tips
- Do not compress the same JPG again and again. Always start from the original photo for the best result.
- For exam forms that ask for pixels as well as KB, use the Photo & Signature Resizer.
- For many pages of photos, turn them into one file with Image to PDF.
